Corporate Manslaughter Charge for Death of Crane Driver........

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has announced that a crane hire company from Slough has been charged with corporate manslaughter following an investigation by Lancashire Police and the Health & Safety Executive.

During August 2011, the driver was manoeuvring a crane down a steep road away from a wind farm when it left the road and crashed into an earth bank. The CPS alleges that the accident was caused by a failure of the crane’s brakes.

As well as being charged with causing the driver’s death, the firm has also been charged with two other offences

under the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974. The company will appear at Magistrates’ Court at a date yet to be confirmed.
